Privacy Policy for TrackWise

1. Introduction

TrackWise ("we", "our", or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use the TrackWise mobile application. By using the app, you consent to the practices described below.

2. Information We Collect

TrackWise is designed as an offline-first app. By default, all your data — including expenses, income, budgets, categories, and notes — is stored locally on your device. We do not collect or transmit personal information unless you explicitly enable optional cloud sync features.

The app also offers optional manual backup and restore functionality. Backup files are stored in encrypted JSON format on your device inside the Download/TrackWise/Backup/ directory.

3. Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you choose to enable cloud sync:

• Your data is securely stored in your private Supabase database linked to your Google account.
• Google Sign-In is required to access your cloud data.
• All synced data is encrypted and stored privately.
• You can permanently delete your cloud data at any time from within the app.

4. Permissions We Use

The app may request the following permissions:

• Notifications: To display reminders if enabled by the user.
• Boot Completed: To reschedule reminders after a device restart.
• Vibration: To provide haptic feedback for reminders.
• File Access (Scoped): Used only to:
  • Export reports as PDF or CSV to Download/TrackWise/Export
  • Backup and restore encrypted data from Download/TrackWise/Backup
  All file operations remain local and secure; nothing is uploaded or shared externally.

5. Data Security

Your data is protected by design. Local data never leaves your device unless you choose to export or sync it. Backup files are AES-encrypted before being saved on your device. If cloud sync is enabled, your data is encrypted and securely stored in your Supabase account. We recommend enabling device-level protections such as PIN, password, or biometrics for additional security.

6. User Control

You are in complete control of your data. You can:

• Enable or disable cloud sync at any time
• Export your data as PDF or CSV files
• Manually create encrypted backups and restore them when needed
• Permanently delete your cloud data from within the app

7. Third-Party Services

TrackWise does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We only use:

• Supabase: For secure cloud sync, only when enabled by the user.
• Google Sign-In: For authentication to protect your synced data.

8. Children’s Privacy

TrackWise is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or store personal information from children. Since no personal data is collected by default, the app is safe for all age groups.

9. App Update Checks

TrackWise may use Google Play's in-app update APIs to notify users of newer versions. No personal data is collected or shared during this process.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in functionality or legal requirements. Any updates will be reflected in the "Effective Date" above, and major changes may be communicated within the app.
